I like bak kut teh and I was not aware that there was a bak kut teh that is so delicious in the city itself. Usually when I am craving for bak kut teh, I will drive out to Klang and visit one of my three favorites there – I guess I should do up a post on my three favorites there.
Anyway, Ah Hei Bak Kut Teh was recently awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand and I was like, oh ok, lets go try it out then. Curbside parking was not easy here, but fortunately there is a big parking lot behind the row of shophouses. Ah Hei Bak Kut Teh was located alongside a couple of other bak kut teh shops and luckily for me when I arrive, there were no queue, but the shop to do get busy as I was enjoying my meal and a long queue form when I was about to leave.
Ah Hei Bak Kut Teh apparently has been there for 30 years, serving up bowls of aromatic and health soup boiled over 6 hours with fresh pork daily in a mixture of 16 herbs. The soup is dark and very flavorful, just as how I like my bak kut teh to be.
They do have quite a good selection of meat cut and my favorite usually is the “fei kuat” or pork belly and they do have them. Not many outlets offer the “fei kuat” cut.
The portion size here is good, and they are not stingy on their soup, giving me an extra bowl and they did top up more again. My meal cost me in the mid RM20s but I felt its worth it and I will definitely return again.
