I have heard of this TeddyVille Museum for quite sometime in Penang but never made it to visit until my recent trip to Penang and staying at the Doubletree Resort by Hilton in Penang.
The TeddyVille Museum is located on the Ground Floor of the Doubletree Resort by Hilton in Penang and all hotel guests receives a 50% off the entrance ticket price (Usual ticket prices are RM 27 for adults and RM 10 for children) to the museum, thus making the visit to the museum a must especially if you are a hotel guest and have kids or teddy-lovers with you.

The TeddyVille Museum is a good size museum .. just a little under 10000 sq feet and can easily take you an hour to finish your “adventure” inside and it is the largest collection of teddy bears in Malaysia. Many of the bears are more than 5 feet tall and perfect for your instagram feed.
The museum starts off with some historical information about Teddy Bear and display of different teddy bears from different region and era from as early as the 1900s.

After learning all about bears, the tour takes us to the Magic of Penang where cute teddy bears were setup to explain the history of Penang, from arrival of Sir Francis Light, to the development of Weld Quay.

Moving on along, we arrive the next section which shows off the lives of the different ethnic group as well as their culture back in the early days.

From the different cultural showcase, we are then transported to the Penang Famous Street Food section where you see bears serving up the world famous Siam Road Char Koay Teow or the must eat Penang Road Teowchew Cendol. The museum also highlighted the famed Gurney Drive Food Court as well as the King of Fruit, the Durian.

From food, we proceed to the next zone where the highlights of Penang are being brought to live with lovely miniatures bears … such as the Penang Bridge Run and Dragon Boat Race.

Up next the bears will transport you to the attractions of Penang such as Penang Hills and Batu Ferringhi Beach, and from there we move into what makes Penang tick, highlight the industries of Penang such as the semiconductor or batik and medical tourism.

Dato’ Lee Chong Wei and Dato’ Nicole David, our world champion in badminton and squash from Penang respectively will bid you farewell before you enter into the museum store where you can pick up your favorite bears.

I would say it is a nice museum to visit in Penang, be it you are a teddy bear fan or just would like to learn more about Penang is a fun and creative way.
