A new world class attraction might come alive in Langkawi if an investment interest from a South Korean company materializes. According to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik, a Nami Island based company has indicated their interest to invest about RM 30 million to build and operate probably the world’s highest zipline adventure from over 700 meters high.
“At Nami Island, the highest point structure is about 200 meters but here at the summit of Mount Machingcang it is over 708 meters, it could easily go as the highest in Malaysia if not the world. If it comes true, Langkawi will be top in the world map, especially among the millennial travelers who are looking for a thrilling adventure,” the Minister told reporters.
Muhammad Bakthiar added that if the project is realized, it would benefit the people especially in generating technology transfer, employment and spin-off business opportunities in Langkawi.
Muhammad Bakthiar Wan Chik was in Langkawi recently to witness the Partnership Signing Ceremony between Kobay Property Development Group and Ri-Yaz Hotels and Resorts.
The partnership agreement signed will see Ri-Yaz Hotels and Resorts introducing their ultra-luxury brand of Ri-Yaz into Langkawi, managing and operating the Lavanya Residences, a project developed by Kobay Property Development Group at Pantai Tengah.
