The highly anticipated 2026 AUTOBACS SUPER GT Round 3 Malaysia GT 300km Race driven by TOYOTA GAZOO RACING has officially been postponed, following a joint announcement by GTA Co. Ltd. and Haro Sports & Entertainment Sdn. Bhd.
The decision comes after what organizers described as a comprehensive review of the current global environment, with growing instability in the Middle East cited as a major factor affecting the event’s feasibility. According to the organizers, the ongoing uncertainty has created significant operational and logistical challenges, particularly for the Malaysian round, which remains the only race on the SUPER GT calendar held outside Japan.

This unique position within the championship means that global disruptions have a disproportionate impact on the planning and delivery of the event.
Adding to the challenge is the sharp rise in international freight and air travel costs, which has further complicated efforts to stage the race at the level expected by teams, partners, and fans.
In a joint statement, HARO Sports & Entertainment Managing Partner Fahrizal Hassan and GTA President and CEO Masaaki Bandoh expressed their sympathies to those affected by the current crisis.
“Firstly, our prayers are with all those impacted by the current crisis in the Middle East. We pray for a peaceful and amicable resolution.”
Fahrizal acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the decision, particularly as 2026 was set to mark the second consecutive year of SUPER GT’s return to Malaysia.
“While this was not what we envisioned for the second year running of the Malaysian round, we would like to thank GTA, the teams and all valued stakeholders — our partners, sponsors, the media and especially all fans — for their strong support and understanding in these challenging times. The race will be back in Malaysia, and when it does, we are committed to making it twice as exciting.”
Bandoh also thanked the Malaysian organizers and all parties involved in preparations for the event, describing the postponement as a difficult but necessary decision.
“We will continue to build a cooperative relationship with HARO Sports & Entertainment and everyone in Malaysia so that Malaysian fans can once again enjoy an exciting SUPER GT.”
Both GTA and HARO Sports emphasized that the postponement is temporary, reaffirming their commitment to bringing the championship back to Malaysia once conditions allow for a safe, stable, and high-quality event.
Further updates are expected to be communicated through official channels in due course.
For motorsport fans across the region, the postponement is undoubtedly a disappointment, but the message from organizers remains clear: SUPER GT will return to Malaysia.
