Viper Niza Targets Historic Third Spa Podium at 2026 Michelin 12H Spa-Francorchamps

Malaysian endurance outfit returns to Belgium’s legendary circuit aiming for a perfect three-from-three podium record

Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team heads to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps this weekend for Round 2 of the 2026 Michelin 24H Series, chasing an incredible third podium finish in as many visits to the legendary Belgian circuit.

The legendary curves of Spa-Francorchamps are calling once again, and Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team is ready to answer.Heading into the Michelin 12H Spa-Francorchamps from 17–19 April, the Kuala Lumpur-based endurance racing outfit is chasing a remarkable statistic — three podium finishes in three appearances at one of the world’s most revered circuits.

For a team that has already carved out a reputation for resilience and consistency in international endurance racing, Spa has proven to be fertile ground.Last year, the driver trio of Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang, and Melvin Moh delivered an impressive result aboard the team’s iconic #65 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, securing second in the GT3 AM Class, fourth in GT3, and sixth overall from a competitive field of 37 international drivers.

Their history at Spa stretches back even further. On their first-ever visit in 2019, the team made an immediate impact by clinching victory in the PRO/AM class at the inaugural TCR SPA500, piloting a Seat Cupra TCR DSG across the punishing 500-lap marathon.

That proven pedigree now sets the stage for another high-stakes weekend.Fresh from a solid season opener at Mugello, where the team finished fourth in GT3-AM, eighth in GT3, and 10th overall after completing 344 laps, Viper Niza arrives in Belgium with momentum firmly on its side.

Yet Spa is never a circuit where history alone guarantees success.Stretching 7.004km with 19 corners, the historic Belgian venue is globally celebrated for its breathtaking speed, technical demands, and famously unpredictable weather — often delivering dry racing lines, sudden showers, and rapidly changing grip levels all within the same session.

From the legendary Eau Rouge-Raidillon complex to the flat-out blast through Blanchimont, Spa remains one of motorsport’s ultimate tests of nerve and endurance.Team Principal and lead driver Douglas Khoo knows exactly what lies ahead.“That is the beauty and appeal of Spa Francorchamps – its unpredictability. It is not a race to ever be taken lightly,” said Khoo.“The goal is to make it on the podium, but we are not going to allow past accomplishments to get into our heads. It’s a long race and in endurance racing, to finish first, you must first finish.”

This year’s event will feature 44 cars on the grid, with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO forming the largest contingent in the GT3 field.Among the key rivals will be defending overall and GT3-AM class winners HOFOR Racing, as well as Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport’s Audi R8, which finished runner-up in GT3-AM at Mugello.

With a fiercely competitive field and Spa’s notorious unpredictability, Viper Niza’s bid for a third straight podium will be anything but straightforward. But if past form is anything to go by, the Malaysian team has every reason to believe another memorable result is within reach.
