Air Asia has launched a new route today that will see the airline flying direct from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Chiang Rai (CEI) in Northern Thailand instead of the current route where passengers have to make a transit in Bangkok.
Chiang Ria is known for its famous Wat Rong Khun (white temple) and the gateway to the Golden Triangle where three countries – Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meets.

Air Asia Thailand will have 4-times weekly flight from KLIA2 to Chiang Rai and to kick-off this new route, AirAsia BIG members are able to get fares starting from only RM99 per way.
AirAsia Thailand chief executive officer Santisuk Klongchaiya said the new route will make it easier for Malaysians to enjoy Chiang Rai’s many attractions.
