The penultimate round of the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS) at the Sepang International Circuit here today concluded with some familiar faces on the podium.
Bangladeshi racer Avik Anwar (R Engineering) emerged victorious in the touring production class after fending off Skuber Race Team’s Jonathan Xie (+1.159s) for the win in race two today.
Imran Wafi Adnan-Lee Kun Soon (+32.679s) completed the podium.
Avik, who competes in a Honda Civic FC this season, dedicated the win to his late father.
“I lost my father recently, so I am not quite there yet mentally when it comes to racing. He was very supportive of my career. I dedicate this win to him,” said Avik during the post-race presser.
“It wasn’t an easy race, especially with Jonathan (pushing him hard), but we managed to do it.”
Former TCR Asia driver Mitchell Cheah (Hirev Dream Chaser) denied championship rival Haydan Haikal (+3.794s) to come out top in race two of the Malaysia touring car class.

Brothers Naquib Azlan-Nabil Azlan (Wing Hin Motorsports) came in third (+7.857s).
Mitchell, who is driving a Suzuki Swift this season, was visibly pleased to be back on the podium.
“We had some issues during round two earlier this year, so it definitely feels good to be back winning,” said Mitchell.
“I am tied on championship points with Haydan now. So the final round will be interesting.”
The fourth and final round of MCS will be held in Sepang on Sept 22-24.
