For six electrifying days, Malaysia’s capital became the beating heart of the MotoGP world as the championship launched its 2026 season in unforgettable style. Downtown Kuala Lumpur transformed into a full-blown motorsports playground, culminating in an estimated 20,000 fans packing the streets to witness a spectacular show run and stage finale up close.
Saturday night was all about raw adrenaline. Dark clouds and rain threatened right up to showtime, only adding to the drama before conditions settled and engines roared to life. One by one, teams rolled out into the fan-lined streets, with each rider completing two show laps — throwing in stoppies, burnouts, and plenty of flair — before making their way to the main stage to greet the roaring crowd.
The show officially kicked off at 7:30pm, with the first bikes unleashed just after 8:00pm, turning KL’s iconic city streets into a temporary MotoGP circuit. As every hero of the 2026 grid made their appearance, the night seamlessly shifted between from motorsport spectacle to full-scale entertainment.
Global hitmakers The Script headlined the stage, with a high-energy sets from DJ PAWSA and Malaysian pop sensations DOLLA. The night closed with a picture-perfect moment as riders joined The Script on stage for a final photo op — a fitting sign-off to a launch that blended speed, sound, and spectacle.
With the season officially underway, the action now shifts to the track. The Buriram Test is up next, offering two days of crucial running as the first storylines of 2026 begin to take shape. Then, it’s time for the real deal — lights out in Buriram, Thailand, on March 1.
