Barcelona, Spain, 29 September 2025 – Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team wrapped up its maiden full-season campaign in the 2025 Michelin 24H SERIES European Series with a 4th place finish in the GT3-AM Championship after a dramatic showing at the season-ending 24 Hours of Barcelona.

The all-Malaysian squad fielded its strongest line-up yet for the finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with Team Principal and lead driver Douglas Khoo joined by Dominic Ang, Melvin Moh, Aaron Lim, and Afiq Yazid in the proven Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Heading into Barcelona, the team sat tied 3rd in the standings, just eight points off the leaders, with everything to play for in the grueling 24-hour decider.
Early Promise, Mid-Race Setback
Starting strong, Ang launched the car into the leading pack, running inside the top 10 before handing over to Khoo, who climbed as high as 7th overall. However, contact with a Porsche in the second hour derailed the team’s charge.
“Initially, we thought the damage was minor – just a broken upright – and quickly replaced it,” explained Khoo. “But it turned out the steering rack was also damaged, forcing us to lose nearly three hours in repairs. By then, we had already lost 90 laps to the leaders.”
Despite the setback, the team fought back valiantly, completing 633 laps to finish 11th in GT3, 22nd overall, and securing crucial points to close the season 4th in GT3-AM.

A Rollercoaster Season
Viper Niza’s 2025 campaign began with a missed opening round at Mugello before making a strong debut at Spa in April, finishing 6th overall, 4th in GT3, and 2nd in GT3-AM. A retirement at Misano due to a cracked oil sump proved costly, but the team rebounded at Paul Ricard with 8th overall, 3rd in GT3-AM, and earned the Spirit of the Race Award for persevering with a rented car after theirs was damaged in qualifying.
Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport ultimately secured the GT3-AM crown, with Juta Racing and Hofor Racing finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Building Malaysia’s Motorsport Legacy
For Khoo, the bigger win was beyond the standings.
“Our goal was always to prove that an all-Malaysian team – from drivers to engineers and mechanics – can compete at the highest level in Europe,” said Khoo. “We may have just missed out on the top three, but finishing 4th overall in our first season is a huge achievement. The experience we’ve gained will only make us stronger for the future.”
Backed by Motul, Endless & Momentum Autoparts, IWC (Official Watch Brand), and Jen Orchard Gateway Hotel Singapore, Viper Niza Racing has cemented itself as a serious contender on the European endurance stage – and a proud flag bearer for Malaysia in international motorsport.
