Day Eight of our Roadtrippers 1.0 takes us from the lovely quaint island of Koh Lanta where we enjoyed our stay in one of the most beautiful resort in all of Thailand ~ Layana Resort and Spa. The hotel was great, and so was the breakfast, which is served at The Tide Restaurant and we had a choice to go alfresco beach-side or inside the restaurant, and of course we chose alfresco beach-side even though we are Asians and usually prefer to be inside the building away from the sun.
Breakfast was excellent, serving a good selection of Western and Asian cuisine and I believe one of their highlight for breakfast is their selection of healthy fruit-juice mix shots.
After breakfast, we had the opportunity to check out their wellness facilities – the newly completed wellness pool, the yoga zone, the fitness center and the Healthy Juice Bar. We also checked out the Linger Longer Spa where we got to enjoy one of the most awesome spa session ~ the Layana Signature Oil Massage.
The Linger Longer Spa has 6 private treatment rooms including a new salt room where fiber-optic lighting provides a special environment for users to breathe in minerals and salt as they relax with the various therapeutic salt treatments offered in their menu.
After the spa session, we had to reluctantly check out from this amazing resort and head out to Trang and later onto Hatyai. I would have loved to stay longer and I hope to be back again in Koh Lanta and the Layana Resort and Spa one day soon again.
From Koh Lanta, we took the ferry back to the mainland and head over to the city of Trang for lunch. We stopped by this restaurant that serves legandary Trang food called Tamnan Lao Restaurant at 144 Kan Tang Road, Bang Rak, Mueang Trang 92000.
Tamnan Lao is one of the most famous restaurant in Trang and diners eat in these little huts which liken you eating at your own backyard.
We had the opportunity to sample their delicious menu items including the likes of papaya salad with fermented fish or somtum phra, papaya salad with crab, baked catfish, grilled pork, fried pork, fish cake, fish with cashew nuts, and pork rib soup.
Food were amazingly delicious and we were stuffed as we head out of Trang and into the city of Hatyai. We went straight to Central Festival Mall, which is the largest mall in Southern Thailand for the Hatyai MotorShow 2017 where many of our pretty friends from Hatyai were working.
After the motorshow, we went outside of Central Festival Mall where its all decked up with Christmas lighting.
From Central Festival Mall, we move to a nearby hot spot for supper in Hatyai which is the original Sala Pao Ko0-Uan (which today you can find outlets in Bangkok too). Both their steam Chinese buns and baked buns were great.
After a hearty supper, we headed over to one of my favorite boutique hotel in Hatyai – Lalita Boutique Hotel.
Lalita Boutique Hotel is located in North Hatyai and is about 5 minutes drive from the heart of Hatyai. The 52-room boutique hotel has rooms spread out over three floors and we got two rooms on the first floor – and one of them is the Hello Kitty themed room. Decked in pink, the 28sqm room is a favorite among girls and is decorated with the much loved character from Sanrio.
The other room we had is the standard double room, similar in size and layout, but its just in modern minimalist design.
It has been a long day for our Roadtrippers, so we all retire to bed early.
Day Nine of our Roadtrippers 1.0 is more of spending the time in Songkhla, the neighbor city of Hatyai where it is famous for its Old Town and mermaid and checking into the famous Centara Resort and Hotel Hatyai.
