Sepang, Malaysia – The 2026 Malaysian round of the AUTOBACS SUPER GT Series will deliver a unique fusion of motorsports, culture and lifestyle as runners take to the iconic Petronas Sepang International Circuit for the ALEPS Ekiden Night Run.
Taking place during the SUPER GT race weekend, the event is organised by the Alumni Look East Policy Society (ALEPS) in collaboration with HARO Sports & Entertainment Sdn Bhd, rights holder and promoter of SUPER GT Malaysia. Inspired by Japan’s traditional Ekiden relay race, the night run adds a distinctive cultural dimension to one of Malaysia’s biggest motorsports weekends.
Established in 1988, ALEPS comprises Malaysian alumni of Japanese universities and colleges, and plays a key role in strengthening Malaysia–Japan relations while promoting “Look East” values such as teamwork, discipline and excellence.

Now in its third edition in Malaysia, the ALEPS Ekiden has become a signature platform celebrating friendship, collaboration and shared values between the two nations. For 2026, the event takes on a night-run format on 20 June, offering participants a premium race atmosphere amid the electrifying energy of SUPER GT.
Teams of four runners will compete in a relay format, with each runner completing one full 5.543km lap of the Sepang circuit. Participants will pass the traditional “Tasuki” relay sash while running on world-class asphalt in cooler evening conditions, surrounded by neon lights, roaring race machines and the vibrant atmosphere of the SUPER GT Malaysia Festival.

“Ekiden’s emphasis on teamwork and precision mirrors the professional standards found in motorsports pit lanes. With the valued support of the Embassy of Japan, this collaboration envisions an all-encompassing lifestyle festival that blends competitive running with elite racing,”
said Fahrizal Hasan, Managing Partner of HARO Sports & Entertainment.
The return of the AUTOBACS SUPER GT Series to Malaysia in 2025 drew an impressive 75,977 spectators over two days, exceeding expectations and reaffirming Malaysia’s position as a key international motorsports destination.
Beyond racing, fans enjoyed the SUPER GT Malaysia Festival, featuring Japanese-themed cultural and food showcases, a GT Live post-race concert, automotive exhibitions, an autoshow, official merchandise sales, as well as support races including the GR86 Cup Malaysia Series and GAZOO Racing Malaysia Vios Challenge.
“These attractions will continue to anchor the race weekend, alongside new activities currently being finalised to make the SUPER GT Malaysia Festival 2026 even bigger and more exciting,” added Fahrizal.
The SUPER GT Malaysia Festival 2026 forms part of the national celebrations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
