WING HIN MOTORSPORTS KICKS OFF SEASON WITH SIX PODIUM FINISHES AND TWO VICTORIES IN THAILAND

BURIRAM, Thailand – Wing Hin Motorsports has launched its 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, securing an impressive six podium finishes, including two race victories, during the opening round of the TSS The Super Series and Thailand Super Series at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit.

Competing with five cars and a 10-driver line-up across the GT4 and Super Touring categories, the Malaysian team immediately signalled its championship ambitions with a weekend packed with strong performances and dramatic racing action.

The opening round also marked the beginning of Wing Hin Motorsports’ GT4 title defence after claiming the championship crown last year. The team’s #39 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, driven by Mitchell Cheah and Ryan Wong in the Pro-Am category, delivered a strong start to the season.

Race 1 saw Ryan Wong take a measured approach before handing over to Mitchell Cheah, who mounted an impressive charge through the field. Starting the second stint from seventh position, Cheah carved his way forward to finish second overall while also taking victory in the Pro-Am category.

“A good result to start the season. The team has been working hard last season and in preparation for this year and we’re looking forward to the next race,” said Cheah.

Race 2 brought a different challenge altogether. Starting from pole position, Cheah looked poised to build momentum before an early safety car intervention neutralised his advantage. A fierce five-car battle after the restart saw the team slip down the order before Ryan Wong eventually crossed the finish line in fifth overall.

While GT4 delivered excitement, Wing Hin Motorsports truly showcased its depth in the Thailand Super Series Super Touring Class, collecting four podium finishes across two races.

Saturday’s Race 1 saw Amer Harris and Nabil Azlan secure second place in the #36 Toyota Vios, while teammates Dannies Ng and Jwan Hii claimed third in the #38 Toyota Yaris after a tightly contested race. Nick Teo and Ian Wong narrowly missed the podium in fourth.

“We’re super happy with the results. We have to thank the team for preparing a super competitive car,” said Hii.

“This is our first rookie season in the series and the competition has been tough, but the team has done an incredible job of bringing us up to pace.”

Sunday’s Race 2 produced one of the weekend’s biggest highlights. Starting from pole position, Amer Harris maintained a narrow lead through intense pressure before handing over to Nabil Azlan midway through the race.

A dramatic closing sequence saw Nabil reclaim the lead late in the race, but post-race developments reshuffled the standings after penalties and investigations altered the final classification. The outcome eventually elevated Ng and Hii to victory while Nabil and Amer were classified third, giving Wing Hin Motorsports another double podium finish and strengthening the team’s dominant weekend.

The results capped off an encouraging start for a squad looking to build momentum across both championships.

“It’s a good result for us,” said Amer.

“It’s still too early to predict with only one round completed, but it has certainly been a very good start. The team has made extremely strong progress and we believe we have a good shot in the coming rounds.”

Attention now turns to Round 2 as Wing Hin Motorsports heads to one of Southeast Asia’s most challenging racing venues — the Bangsaen Grand Prix street circuit in Chonburi from 1–5 July, where the team will aim to continue its early-season momentum.
