Asia Pacific’s first BYD Certified showroom opens in Glenmarie with battery health verification, warranty coverage and comprehensive ownership support.
Kuala Lumpur – As Malaysia’s electric vehicle market matures, attention is beginning to shift beyond new car sales towards the growing demand for quality pre-owned EVs. Recognising this changing landscape, BYD Sime Motors has introduced BYD Certified, the brand’s official certified pre-owned vehicle programme, bringing greater transparency, assurance and peace of mind to Malaysians looking to make the switch to electric mobility.
The launch also marks another milestone for Malaysia’s EV industry, with Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie becoming the first official BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region. The new facility serves as a one-stop centre where customers can purchase certified vehicles, arrange financing, trade in existing cars and access aftersales support under one roof.
Unlike conventional used-car programmes, BYD Certified places significant emphasis on vehicle quality and ownership confidence. Every certified vehicle undergoes a comprehensive 170-point inspection carried out by trained technicians, accompanied by verified battery health assessments, clean vehicle history records and manufacturer-backed warranty coverage.
To qualify, vehicles must be less than four years old, have travelled no more than 100,000km, be free from flood, fire or major accident damage, and retain genuine BYD components repaired according to factory-approved standards. These five quality assurance pillars establish a benchmark that addresses one of the biggest concerns among prospective EV buyers—battery condition and long-term reliability.
During the launch ceremony, BYD Certified also completed its first customer handover with a pre-owned BYD ATTO 3, symbolising growing consumer acceptance of certified pre-owned electric vehicles in Malaysia.
According to Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, the programme extends EV ownership opportunities to more Malaysians while ensuring buyers receive professional support throughout their ownership journey. Meanwhile, BYD Sime Motors Managing Director Adeline Lew highlighted that the programme strengthens resale values by offering existing owners a transparent and trusted trade-in platform within the BYD ecosystem.
Ownership benefits extend beyond certification. Buyers receive a five-day buy-back assurance should undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage be discovered after delivery, nationwide warranty and servicing support through BYD’s authorised dealer network, as well as exclusive financing rates starting from 2.03 per cent.
With more Malaysians embracing electric mobility, the introduction of BYD Certified addresses an increasingly important segment of the market.
