Just months after beginning its latest growth phase, the tyre brand has increased its nationwide dealer network by more than 30 percent, growing from around 150 outlets in May 2026 to over 200 locations today. The expansion signals increasing confidence among dealers and automotive service partners as Dunlop strengthens its accessibility to motorists across the country.

The milestone builds on a legacy that stretches back more than six decades. In 1963, Dunlop became the first tyre manufacturer to establish local production in Malaysia, helping shape the country’s automotive industry and becoming one of its most recognisable tyre brands.

Today, under the stewardship of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and backed by Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ engineering expertise, Dunlop is positioning itself as an emerging premium brand by making high-performance tyre technology more accessible to Malaysian drivers.

Malaysia’s replacement tyre market continues to evolve as motorists increasingly demand products that combine safety, performance and long-term value across passenger cars, SUVs and the rapidly growing electric vehicle segment.

“Malaysia is an important market for Dunlop and we see tremendous opportunities for long-term growth,” said Marcus Lim, Managing Director of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

“Motorists are looking for products that deliver quality, safety and performance, but they also expect genuine value. That is where we see Dunlop’s opportunity. Our ambition is to establish Dunlop as an emerging premium brand by making premium performance accessible to more Malaysian motorists.”

Beyond expanding its physical footprint, Dunlop is also broadening the channels through which customers can access its products.

“We want Dunlop to be available wherever customers choose to purchase and service their tyres, whether through established tyre dealers, automotive service centres or future retail channels that enhance convenience and accessibility. At the heart of our strategy is building strong, long-term partnerships across Malaysia’s automotive aftermarket,” Marcus added.

Members of media takes home a set of tyres as their lucky draw today. To support that ambition, Dunlop’s product range now caters to a wider spectrum of motorists. The Blue Response TG is targeted at everyday passenger vehicles, the SP Sport Maxx 060+ delivers enhanced performance for enthusiasts, while the Grandtrek R/T01 serves SUV and pickup truck owners. Looking ahead, the company is also preparing to introduce the new e.Sport Maxx, specifically engineered to meet the unique demands of electric vehicles.

The company’s role extends beyond the replacement market. Dunlop continues supplying original equipment (OEM) tyres for selected models from major manufacturers including Toyota, Lexus, Isuzu, Mazda and Leapmotor, reflecting the confidence global automakers continue to place in the brand’s engineering standards and manufacturing quality.

Together with Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Toyotsu Binter Malaysia says it remains committed to maintaining consistent product quality, reliable supply chains and responsive customer support while strengthening long-standing relationships with vehicle manufacturers.

As Malaysia’s automotive landscape transitions towards electrification, Dunlop says it is developing products capable of supporting internal combustion, hybrid and fully electric vehicles without compromising safety, comfort or durability.

Takehiko Asai, Managing Director of Sumitomo Rubber Asia (Tyre) Pte. Ltd., said innovation continues to define the company’s direction.

“Innovation has always been at the heart of Dunlop. Throughout our history, we have continuously evolved alongside advances in mobility, developing technologies that improve safety, performance and driving confidence for motorists around the world.”

He added that the company’s future investments are focused on technologies that improve energy efficiency, wet-weather performance, rolling resistance and cabin refinement, while also exploring intelligent tyre technologies designed for connected and electrified mobility.

With Malaysia identified as one of its key regional growth markets, Dunlop plans to continue expanding its dealer network, introduce products developed for local driving conditions and strengthen partnerships throughout the automotive aftermarket as it positions itself for sustained long-term growth.
