AFFIN Backs Asia’s First Heritage Motor Exchange, Bringing Greater Transparency to the Collector-Car Market

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia is set to welcome a new chapter in collector-car culture as Heritage Motor Exchange Asia makes its debut from 23 to 25 October 2026 at Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL).

Presented by AFFIN Group, the inaugural event will showcase up to 50 classic and collector cars, bringing together regional collectors, automotive enthusiasts, investors and industry stakeholders under the theme “When Passion Meets Acquisition”.

Positioned as the “High-Octane October Sale”, Heritage Motor Exchange Asia aims to reshape Southeast Asia’s collector-car market by introducing a more transparent, data-driven approach to vehicle assessment, valuation and trading.

Moving beyond the traditional motor show format, the event will feature a 100-Point Concours Judging System, with vehicles assessed by experienced independent judges in collaboration with industry partners from Europe. Evaluations will examine physical condition and component authenticity, with final scores mapped against historical market transaction data to establish certified fair-trade value ranges.

Each participating vehicle will receive an official Valuation Certificate, while selected concours cars offered for sale will display calculated price ranges on their windscreens, giving prospective buyers a clearer reference point during negotiations.

The showcase will cover six categories spanning different eras and segments of automotive culture: Vintage, Classic, Modern Classic, Contemporary Exotic, Luxury and Performance collector cars.

Five Highlights Bringing Heritage and Innovation Together

Heritage Motor Exchange Asia will feature five key elements designed to celebrate automotive craftsmanship while creating new opportunities for collectors and buyers.

Concours de Vente will present a curated selection of collector vehicles undergoing live judging to establish their condition and indicative market price ranges. Meanwhile, Concours d’Elegance will celebrate automotive artistry, historical accuracy, restoration quality and craftsmanship.

The Private Consignment Paddock will provide a premium marketplace for collectors to trade verified vehicles on consignment, supported by greater transparency in the buying and selling process.

Technology will also take centre stage through Back From the Future, featuring Mornine, an intelligent humanoid robot from AiMOGA, as one of the event’s vehicle presenters.

For motorsport enthusiasts, Historic Motorsport – Icons are Forever will showcase iconic race and rally cars dating as far back as the 1970s, offering visitors a glimpse into the machines and engineering that helped shape competition history.

AFFIN Combines Automotive Passion with Private Banking

As Presenting Partner, AFFIN Group is extending its engagement with high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners through an event that connects automotive passion with personalised financial and lifestyle solutions.

Through AFFIN DIVENTIUM Private Banking, the Group offers bespoke wealth management, investment expertise and exclusive lifestyle privileges tailored to individual client needs and aspirations. The private banking segment was recently recognised with the Outstanding Private Bank Asia Pacific award at the Private Banker International Global Wealth Awards 2026.

Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of AFFIN Group, said the partnership reflects the Group’s understanding that clients’ interests extend beyond their financial portfolios, encompassing personal passions, craftsmanship and legacies for future generations.

Practical Support for Buyers and Sellers

The event will also feature the presence of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and PUSPAKOM, supporting processes associated with financing assessments, vehicle roadworthiness inspections, ownership transfers, road tax issuance and insurance. Financing approvals remain subject to applicable eligibility requirements and assessments.

Cycle & Carriage joins as the Anchor Heritage Partner, marking its 75-year association with Mercedes-Benz in Malaysia and Singapore. The partnership will highlight the company’s history and its role in bringing the three-pointed star marque to then Malaya and Singapore.

Curated by Andrew Suresh, who brings 30 years of experience in the heritage-car sector, the three-day showcase is organised by the Collectors’ Consortium. Visitors can also attend educational sessions covering vehicle inspections and how component defects may affect market valuations.

According to Suresh, the initiative aims to address long-standing challenges surrounding pricing transparency and access to reliable vehicle data in Southeast Asia’s collector-car market.

By combining structured vehicle assessments with historical transaction data, the platform seeks to give buyers a more informed basis for purchasing decisions while helping sellers establish more credible pricing benchmarks.
