National squad blends international experience, championship-winning form and emerging talent as Malaysia targets more esports medals in Thailand
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia will field four esports racing athletes at the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship 2026 (APMC 2026), as the national squad targets further medal success at the regional competition taking place from 23 to 25 October at Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand.
The Malaysian contingent comprises Nabil Azlan, 24, and Iqbal Suji, 28, in the Assetto Corsa category, while Raja Amirul Syauqat, 22, and 16-year-old Ethen Low will represent the country in iRacing.
All four athletes secured their places after finishing among the top two in their respective national qualifying competitions sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM).
The selection brings together established competitors with international experience, national champions and promising young racers, reflecting Malaysia’s continued ambition to remain competitive in esports motorsport.
Nabil Azlan Leads Malaysia’s Assetto Corsa Challenge
Nabil Azlan returns to the championship seeking to improve on the silver medal he won in the iRacing category in 2025. For the 2026 edition, he will switch to Assetto Corsa following a strong competitive season.
Nabil recently won the 2026 MAM Festival of Speed Esport Category and is also the reigning 2025 Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia e-Racing Pro Class Champion.
His previous APMC experience and recent championship success make him one of Malaysia’s key medal contenders heading into the competition.
Joining him in Assetto Corsa is Iqbal Suji, who will make his APMC debut with valuable international experience. Iqbal reached the final of the 2023 Gran Turismo World Series Nations Cup and competed in the Asia Pacific Final of the FIA Rally Star programme in the same year.
His experience at international level will be an important asset as he takes on the region’s leading esports racing competitors.
National Champion and Young Talent in iRacing
Malaysia’s iRacing campaign will be led by Raja Amirul Syauqat, who arrives in Thailand following his victory in the 2026 MAM eRacing GP National Championship.
The national champion will make his APMC debut aiming to carry his domestic success onto the regional stage.
He will be joined by Ethen Low, one of Malaysia’s youngest representatives at the championship. At just 16, the Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia Rookie is already making an impression in the local esports racing scene.
Ethen currently leads the Rookies Championship and recently won the Young Dreamers category at the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia 2026.
His selection marks another important step in his development as he prepares to compete against more experienced international rivals in his first APMC appearance.
Malaysia Targets Further Esports Success
Malaysia’s participation is supported by Esports Integrated (ESI) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KCS) through the Malaysia Esports Accelerator Program (MEAP).
Since APMC’s inaugural edition in 2023, Malaysian competitors have won gold medals in both the individual and team esports categories, establishing a strong foundation for the country’s latest campaign.
Hosted by the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (RAAT), APMC 2026 is expected to attract between 250 and 500 competitors from 24 nations, competing across six motorsport disciplines.
The championship brings together athletes representing national motorsport authorities from across the Asia-Pacific region, with gold, silver and bronze medals contested across the various disciplines.
With a combination of proven performers and emerging talent, Malaysia will be looking to turn its competitive momentum into another successful outing when the esports racing action gets underway in Pattaya.
