Comic Fiesta is Back and it’s better then Ever

Kuala Lumpur, 24 December 2023 – Malaysia’s largest and longest-running animation, comics and games convention, Comic Fiesta 2023 returns for yet another show-stopping, crowd-grabbing event with a wide variety of events and activities.
Comic Fiesta 2023 is its 20th event and is held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and is now bigger and better than before, with more space for a second stage, more space for artist booths, and bigger walking areas for visitors. This year, it is estimated that we have 60,000 visitors throughout the two days of the event.

One of the largest crowd-pullers for Comic Fiesta this year are V-tubers, digital entertainers and live- streamers who rose to popularity throughout the pandemic period and is now ubiquitous in the live- streaming industry.

This year Comic Fiesta hosts the Kuala Lumpur leg of the viv:ID CRUISE hololive Meet Asia Tour featuring Ayunda Risu, Moona Hoshinova, Pavolia Reine and Kobo Kanaeru of hololive Indonesia.
Also appearing for the first time in Malaysia are Sakura Miko and Hoshimachi Suisei from hololive.

Another fan favourite is the ASCA x spira spica from SACRA MUSIC Live Stage in Malaysia! in collaboration with The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia and The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, celebrating the 50th anniversary of ASEAN – Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

Also making their way from Japan is Aki Hamazi, the manga artist behind Bocchi the Rock!, a slice-of- life comic series about an introverted guitarist determined to overcome her social anxiety and perform on stage. Comic Fiesta 2023 is also featuring Studio TRIGGER with the appearance of Yoshinari Yoh, the renowned animation director, illustrator, character designer as well as animation producer Naoko Tsutsumi. Notable works by Studio TRIGGER include Little Witch Academia, BNA and Cyberpunk:Edgerunners and STAR WARS: VISIONS.

Comic Fiesta continues to be the biggest arts and creative market in Malaysia, featuring over 450 individual artists. On offer are fan merch from various fandoms as well as original content.
Local content also continues to be a focus at Comic Fiesta this year, with guests such as renowned voice actress Chan Su Ling (the voice behind Bailu of Honkai Star Rail & Mayday of No Straight
Roads), as well as comic artists Ernest Ng and Mist battling it out in an art battle, a first of its kind.
Lim Chin Hwa, Director for Comic Fiesta says “After ‘warming up’ in 2022, we are now ready to go to the next level by not only offering a bigger space in KLCC, but also more content throughout the event, and in order to facilitate this, we’ve also offered a new concept of ticketing by combining a physical pass and QR registration to ensure that the flow into the halls is as smooth as possible.
With V-tuber content on the rise, we’ve brought in several popular groups in this year who offer a variety of streaming content, as well as professional guests international and local to cater to a
burgeoning creative space.”

As with every year, our intrepid photographer team were on the ground to bring to you some of the cosplays that caught their eye.

Wishing all our readers a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024.
