Kuala Lumpur – If your daily commute takes you through Kuala Lumpur city centre, it’s time to plan an alternative route.
Jalan Raja, the iconic stretch in front of Dataran Merdeka and Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, will be closed for the Citrawarna 2026 celebrations.
The closure affects the section from the National Textile Museum/old Standard Chartered building (after the tunnel) to the Jalan Raja Laut junction.
Closure schedule:
21 July: Closed from 12:00pm onwards
21-26 July: Closed 24 hours daily
Until 5:00am, 27 July: Road reopens after the event
Additional road closures will also be enforced during the event rehearsal and main celebration:
24 July (9:00pm – 2:00am) 25 July (6:00pm – 11:00pm)

Bulatan Dato Onn – Jalan Parlimen
Jalan Raja Laut
Jalan Esfahan
Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman
Jalan Tun Perak
Jalan Kinabalu – Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin
Motorists heading into or out of the city centre are advised to allow extra travel time and use alternative routes where possible.
Drive safely and expect heavier-than-usual traffic around the city throughout the week
