KBS and Petronas Sepang International Circuit Committed in Assisting the Placement of Qabil Irfan For More Comprehensive Training and Guidance

Monday, January 8, 2024 – A Meet and Greet session took place on Monday at the National Sports Council, Bukit Jalil between Qabil Irfan Azlan who won the FIM MiniGP World Series World Champion 160cc and the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh.

In the meeting, Qabil Irfan has presented the victory trophy that has been won inside the MiniGP World Series Final 2023 race in Valencia, Spain that has taken place on November 22-23, 2023.
In 2024, Qabil Irfan will be absorbed as a full-time athlete in the Program Development of Motor Sports managed by the PETRONAS International Circuit Sepang and will compete in the FIM Mini GP Malaysia Series 190cc and Moto4 championships at the ESBK tournament in Spain. He will undergo training sessions together with five (5) others athletes who will race in championships in the the Asian and international levels. As an effort to facilitate the management of the periodic training that he must undergo under the guidance of En Zulfahmi Khairuddin, Qabil Irfan will start living and attending school in the state of Selangor. Qabil Irfan’s family will also relocate to give their full support towards his career development as a motorcycle racer.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) together with the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit will help the new settlement of Qabil Irfan and his family in Selangor by managing the school transfer for the siblings and getting a job suitable for Qabil Irfan’s father. Qabil Irfan’s transfer to Selangor aims to ensure he receives comprehensive exposure, guidance and training by using the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit and surrounding facilities as
training centre.

In this meeting, Qabil Irfan who is now 12 years old also shared his experience while he was racing at the national level before he was selected to represent Malaysia at the FIM MiniGP World Series Final tournament in Andalusia, Spain. His career started when he was only four (4) years old under the guidance of his own father. The potential shown has attracted the interest of ZK Racing and absorbed him to competed in the FIM MiniGP Malaysia Series Championship when he was eight (8) year.

This Meet and Greet session was joined by the Chief Executive Officer of the International Circuit PETRONAS Sepang, Mr Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Mr Iliyas Rabani and Mr Mansyawa Al Khudri from the Motor Sports Development Department, Director General of the Youth and Sports Department Negara (JBSN), Mr Mohd Azhari bin Mohammad and Senior Assistant Director, Branch Recreational Sports Development, En Mua’zam Shah. Brother Qabil was present accompanied by ZK Racing Team Manager, Mr Zulfahmi Khairuddin with Mr Azlan Abd Rahman, the father of Qabil Irfan.

The PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit and ZK Racing would like to thank YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports for willing to spend time with Qabil Irfan and his team. PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit with KBS will continue to provide support in motor sports development programs in this country and hope that this continuous effort can produce more racers talented especially new talent from the grassroots level.
