Couple of months back, we took a 22-day road-trip from Kuala Lumpur to the royal beach city of Hua Hin and stayed there for 7 nights and my only regret was not staying longer. Hua Hin is a lovely beach city, loved by many as well as many of the previous monarchs of Thailand. The city is just over a couple of hours drive from Bangkok and makes a perfect weekend getaway for people from the city.
Hua Hin is also home to many of the great resorts in Thailand and during this trip, we had the chance to stay in a few of them. One of our favorite here is definitely Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort and Spa, a Neo-Moroccan luxury boutique hotel with only 76 suites.

Located on the some say as the best beach in Hua Hin, Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort and Spa is situated on the southern-end of the famous Hua Hin beach, where is is not so crowded and ultra-wide with various activities such as horse-riding and kite-surfing. If you’re up to enjoy its beautiful sunrise, you can also give alms to the monks that stroll the beach.

We arrived in Marrakesh Hua Hin from Koh Talu Island Resort at about 4pm, and after an easy check-in at their beautiful lobby, we were led to our beautiful 60 sqm Jacuzzi Suites. The lobby is impressive – dual volume very spacious and very detail in the architecture to replicate the feel of a Moroccan building.

The suites in Marrakesh Hua Hin Resorts and Spa comes in two colors – Red or Blue and we had one Blue and one Red.
As you walked into the Moroccan-inspired suites, you will first come across the twin-sink vanity area on one side and an open closet on the others, as well as the bathroom – shower stall on one side, the toilet on the other.

Walk further in, you will come into the bedroom where you will find two large comfortable twin beds, with sofa / day bed, a work desk and a lovely LED TV. The room also has two full length mirrors in pale blue tint, framed in their atypical Moroccan rounded arch.

Every suites in Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort and Spa comes with a balcony or Terrace with either Jacuzzi and a lounger or a private pool and a lounger. Our Jacuzzi Suites comes with this lovely Jacuzzi for two.

After settling everything into our suites and getting some shower, we went down to pool-side and the beach front lawn area for some chill-session and dinner at the Al Bahr.

The beach front lawn area was definitely the place to be .. one can enjoy the breezy evening, as the sun set behind you. It is also the perfect time for some wonderful signature cocktail at Al Bahr which meant “Ocean” in Arabic.

We went a little crazy and ordered all their five signature cocktails and our favorites are the Prince of Persia, Mystic Lunar and the Al Bahr Bliss.

It was definitely good to just kick back and enjoy the evening sitting and talking about the trip so far. Dinner was also excellent .. everything looks so good on the menu that we ordered till we forgot how much we ordered …

The Moroccan Chicken Tagine, which is the classic Moroccan chicken stew with butter couscous is a must have here. Very flavorful and the chicken is juicy and tender.

Another must eat here is the Al-Bahr’s Pizza. Its a hot and spicy pizza with basil and assortment of fresh seafood under a thick layer of mozzarella cheese. We ordered two pizzas – the Al Bahr and the Hawaiian .. but definitely you should go for the Al Bahr which is unique and super duper delicious.

We also ordered two plates of pasta – the Spaghetti Carbonara with ham, bacon and mushroom and the Fettucine Pesto Seafood.

One order of the Couscous Salad (just because I am not a big fan of vegetables) but then I guess the rest needs their vegetables.

Another of my favorite that is the Seared Salmon with rosti potatoes served with White Wine Sauce ~ another signature item from Al Bahr. Super delicious. If you had a chance to dine here, please do order this 🙂

After dinner, we just hung around for a while, enjoying the music and the sea-breeze till about 9pm before retiring back to room for a comfortable rest. We took an early rest because we planned for an early morning for the sunrise over the Gulf of Thailand.

Sunrise was definitely beautiful here .. and for those who wanted to give alms, you can definitely do so as the monk will walk along the beach here. After sunrise, its time for breakfast and Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort and Spa definitely do a good job in providing a wonderful spread of Asian and Western choice of items. Apart from the spread, they also have cook-to-order egg station, pancakes and waffles station as well as chinese yutiao station. Guests can also order premium coffee or tea with their breakfast.

After breakfast, we took a little tour of the hotel, checking out some of their other suite types ~ the Fountain Pool Suites on the ground floors and the Ocean Front Suites on the upper levels.
The Fountain Pool Suites share somewhat a similar room layout with the Jacuzzi Suites except the bed is facing outwards to the terrace which has a private pool instead of our balcony with the Jacuzzi.

The Ocean Front Suites meanwhile is slightly bigger in size with a brighter bathroom but then the white walls makes the Ocean Front Suites a little more “normal” then the rest but I guess for those who finds the blue or red sandstone a little too strong, this might be the alternative. There is only four units of the Ocean Front Suites at Marrakesh Hua Hin and all of them have a wonderful view of the swimming pool and the Gulf of Siam from the balcony.

We never got the chance to visit the duplex Celestial Suite because both the suites were occupied the duration we were there. After the rooms, we check out the gym on the 1st floor as well as the swimming pool area.

The Noora Spa at Marrakesh Hua Hin is the spa that offers authentic Moroccan and Arabian- styled spa treatments in a unique and luxurious environment. Treatments at Noora Spa are done with finest Argan oil from Morocco as well as other natural products from Morocco at this exotic spa. Their signature treatment is the 2-hour 5-steps authentic Moroccan Hammam Spa.

Al Hamra is Marrakesh Hua Hin‘s all-day dining outlet and we had an opportunity to had one of our lunch there and I would say although the price on the menu is slightly on the higher side, but then there are always promotions running throughout the day which makes its affordable and food are authentic and delicious. We started our meal with the papaya salad with soft shell crab and a serving of baked New Zealand mussels with cheese. The salad and appetizer were followed by our mains, which we ordered the Pla Neung Manau (Seabass steamed with Lime), Club Sandwich, and Moroccan Chicken Tagine (we loved it so much from last night that we ordered it for lunch again) while for dessert we had the deep fried ice-cream with fruits.

We are happy to spend 3 days 2 nights here at Marrakesh Hua Hin Resort and Spa because it gave us sometime to enjoy the resort as well as the city. The location of the resort is good, convenient and easily accessible to most of the attractions in Hua Hin as well as having a beautiful beach. It is within walking distance to one of the leading mall in Hua Hin, the BluPort Mall. For night market, the Cicada Market, Tamarind Market and the Hua Hin Night Market are all within a 5 minutes drive.
