The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted an event recently at the Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur Hotel called “Amazing Thailand A Million Thanks to the Malaysians” inviting all the tourism sector in Malaysia such as travel agents, bus operator, airline and media to celebrate the 1-million tourists milestone.
The agency expects 1.8 million arrivals from Malaysia this year, with more than 1 million registered as of Tuesday, October 18. According to this target, Malaysia is expected to be the No 1 market for inbound arrivals this year.

With the lifting of the land border control between Thailand and Malaysia, the numbers of Malaysian tourist crossing over hit 1 million within a short 5 months. Thailand has become a weekend destination for Malaysian holiday maker with 70% travelling by land, either via bus, train, car or motorcycle, while the balance 30% travelled by air.
As airline operations gather pace, flights from Malaysia now reach 62% of the pre-pandemic schedule in the fourth quarter with 23 daily flights to five key cities in Thailand : Krungthep Maha Nakhon, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi and Hat Yai and carrying a 75% load factor.

Overall Thailand has receive 7 million international tourists as of October 20 whom generated 26.5 million baht from an average length of stay of 4.9 days with spending of around 30,000 baht per trip.
