Genevieve Ooi Strikes Again: Sarawakian Sensation Secures Second Ladies Cup Triumph at MTCC Round 2

SEPANG – Consistency is becoming Genevieve Henrietta Ooi’s trademark.

The 20-year-old Sarawakian racing talent continued her impressive rise in Malaysian motorsport by claiming her second Ladies Cup victory of the season at the Malaysia Touring Car Championship (MTCC) Round 2, held at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.

Competing in the highly competitive M-Touring 2-V (MT2-V) category under the Axle Sports banner alongside teammate Raja Amirul, Genevieve once again proved that she is far more than a promising newcomer. She is rapidly establishing herself as one of the championship’s standout personalities.

After finishing on the podium in Race 1, Genevieve elevated her performance in Race 2 with another podium finish to secure another Ladies Cup triumph, underlining the maturity, consistency and composure that have defined her campaign so far.

For the former sim racer, every weekend at Sepang is another chapter in a journey that has unfolded at remarkable speed.

Only a short time ago, Genevieve was honing her craft in the virtual racing world. Today, she is sharing the track with experienced competitors in one of Malaysia’s premier touring car championships and delivering results that continue to turn heads.

What makes her latest achievement even more significant is the manner in which it was earned. The MT2-V category is fiercely contested, demanding equal measures of speed, racecraft and mental resilience. Yet Genevieve once again displayed the calmness and discipline of a driver beyond her years.

Her second Ladies Cup victory is also symbolic of something bigger.

As the sole female driver in her category, Genevieve continues to challenge conventional perceptions in motorsport, demonstrating that talent and determination transcend gender. Every race weekend sees the young Sarawakian inspire more young women to look beyond traditional boundaries and consider a future in motorsport.

Balancing life as an Accounting and Financial Business student at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia while pursuing a racing career is no small feat, but Genevieve appears to thrive under pressure. Her performances this season have showcased not only her natural speed but also an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement.

With two Ladies Cup victories now under her belt, momentum is firmly on her side.

The MTCC season is still far from over, but one thing is becoming increasingly clear: Genevieve Ooi is no longer simply a promising young driver making up the numbers.

She is building a reputation as one of Malaysian motorsport’s brightest emerging talents.

And if her performances at Sepang are anything to go by, this journey is only just beginning. ????
