Hatten Place Melaka ~ A New Modern Contemporary Hotel in Historical Melaka

I came across this new hotel called Hatten Place Melaka during my recent trip down to historical Melaka and find it quite interesting.  The modern contemporary hotel is part of The Hatten City project parcel 1 which comprises of a mall, residential, and hotels.

Hatten Place Melaka shares the same footprint with the Elements Mall, DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka and the Silverscape Luxury Residences. It also houses the highest sky-deck in Melaka.

Hatten Place Melaka has a welcome concierge and its cafe on the Ground Floor beside the main entrance of the Elements Mall while the check-in and out lobby is on the 11th floor. The lobby is elegant, with colossal marble column and light effects. Check in is efficient and you’re on the way up to your room in no time, however, the lift service can be a little slow sometimes.

We checked into our 29.07 sqm modern contemporary Deluxe Room on the 23rd floor and I would say the room is nicely decorated and smells nice.

From the entrance comes the bathroom , nice with a separated shower stall. The shower is powerful, giving you a refreshing shower each time. The bathroom also looked spacious with the opening to the room.

The bedroom comes with plush carpeting, make the room very comfortable. The king side bed is also comfortable, very firm and high. The room also comes with a nice day-bed sofa and a work desk with complimentary high-speed WIFI.

The large 48″ LED TV is built into the console panel, giving the room a very sleek look. The large vanity mirror also makes the room looked spacious.

Since we are at this new hotel, we also requested to view their other room type, mainly the one bedroom suites and their two bedroom suites.  Their one bedroom suites is their only room category that has a bathtub and it over-looks the Straits of Melaka and would be an ideal spot to watch the sunset.

The one bedroom suites is 61.4 sqm and comes fitted with a King-size bed, a vanity cum work table, a side cabinet and a 48″ LED TV. It also has a spacious living area with a sofa and another 48″ LED TV, as well as a complimentary mini bar.

The two bedroom suites meanwhile is 72.2 sqm in size, comes with two separate bedrooms and a living room. The master bedroom comes with a king-size bed, a work table and a built in 48″ LED TV. The attached bathroom is comfortable with a separated shower stall with rain-shower and hand-held shower.

The second bedroom comes with a twin-bed configuration with also a 48″ LED TV built-in and a working space, pretty similar to the size of the Superior Room.

The two bedrooms are separated by a lovely living space with sofa, 48″ LED TV, the mini-bar and the second bathroom.

One good thing about Hatten Place Melaka is a lot of their rooms are connected, thus making it really convenient for families travelling together with children.

Breakfast buffets are served on the 11th floor at the Thyme All-day Dining Restaurant. The restaurant is big, with the normal dining tables as well as “open booths” where small meetings can be held over food.

Breakfast was sumptuous – with a good spread of local and western delights, as well as freshly baked croissants, cook-to-order egg station and a noodle station (rotate daily).

Apart from Thyme all-day dining on the 11th floor, Hatten Place Melaka also have this cafe called Coffeevine on the Ground Floor that serves wonderful coffee and dessert. When we were there, the hotel was running a promotion where all guests are treated to a cup of coffee at Coffeevine, so we went for a cuppa. I would say Coffeevine is a pretty nice cafe with a good ambiance and quiet.

In term of facilities, Hatten Place Melaka comes with a well equipped fitness center, steam and sauna as well as an infinity swimming pool on Level 13.

The location of Hatten Place Melaka is quite strategic – being attached to the largest mall in Melaka, although currently the mall occupancy is still rather low, will enable guest access to food, shops and entertainment. Currently there is a 7-Eleven beside the hotel, and the movie theater is already operating with a few food outlets opened. Melaka Raya is also just across the street from the hotels and there are quite a lot of food outlets within walking distance.

Guests for Hatten Place Melaka also get a complimentary access to the SkyDeck, Melaka’s highest viewing deck at Level 44, which not only has an open deck but also a few dining facilities.

While we were there, there are already three outlets operating, The Drift which is a great place for a drink and is opened till midnight, a fine dining outlet called Gales (and they do offer some great value set meals), and a coffee place by the name of Aromas Coffee Club. The fourth outlet will be a fine Chinese restaurant due to open soon.

In summary, I would say Hatten Place Melaka is a good choice of stay now in Melaka – prices of rooms are attractive, everything is still brand new and is easily accessible. They are also starting up a complimentary shuttle services to places like Jonker Walk, Dataran Pahlawan and Hatten Hotel soon (should be up and running anytime now).
