A recent trip to Hatyai brought Team Roadtrippers.asia to explore this brand-new PS Sriphu Hotel which is located about 5km from Hatyai City Center and about 7km from the Hatyai International Airport. Located on the west-side of town, the PS Sriphu is linked conveniently to Hatyai city via a new link road (Highway 2029) which turns into one of the main arteries – Sripoovanart Road in Hatyai.
We got into Hatyai rather late that evening (about 6pm) and was given a map to get to the hotel (since it was new – opened on late February 2018) but we had a little difficulty in getting to the hotel as the map was not to scale and it was still too new to locate on WAZE but after a couple of turns, we did manage to find the hotel. The hotel was spanking new, and nicely litted up with ample parking lot. The hotel is also a stand alone and that area is still rather bare with no completed building around it.
Check in was simple and straight-forward with a 200 baht deposit and right now hotel rooms are just 650 baht per night. The lobby is simple, but rather large, and is dual volume in some parts of it. There is a small counter that sells drinks and snacks as the restaurant / kitchen for the hotel is not ready yet. The hotel carries a minimalist industrial design and is nice. The lobby lift is well lighted but with only one lift and the lift is only accessible with your room key card for security purposes.
We checked into the 22sqm Superior King room and the room is nice but not overly spacious. The windows are large, bringing in ample lights but nothing much of a view. The bed is firm and good for a comfortable night rest. The room also comes with a bench chair (or sofa) as well as LCD TV mounted on the wall. Free WIFI is available throughout the hotel and speed is good. A good point about PS Sriphu is the USB charging plugs on the wall on the working table. Minimalist industrial interior flows well into the room too.
The bathroom is rather large and nicely decorated. The black and white theme makes the bathroom stands out well and is bright (more than sufficient lighting). Toiletries are basic ~ soap, shampoo, shower-cap, ear buds but I felt they could do better with some dental kits.
Overall, I would say this hotel is nicely decorated – the minimalist industrial design flows well from the lift lobby to the walkways and into the rooms. Beds are nice and firm and the USB charging point is definitely a plus.
Draw-back I would say the hotel is rather isolated now, maybe will take six months or a year for neighborhood to be built and right now without a restaurant, it would be rather inconvenient if guests don’t travel with a car. The distance to the city is not too bad, taking just minutes to get into Sripoovanart Road.
So for 650 baht promotional price now, I would say it is a nice new hotel to stay if travel to Hatyai with your own car and for now, there are even better offer if you are long-staying or come in group of 5 rooms or more, there is an additional 50 baht off the promotional price.
