SERDANG, 21 MAY 2024 – The Malaysia Autoshow 2024 was officially launched today by
Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama
Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, marking the beginning of a groundbreaking event that promises to
redefine automotive excellence in the country. The Malaysia Autoshow 2024 will be open from the 22 May – 26 May 2024 at the MAEPS, Serdang.
The Minister emphasized that the Government is dedicated towards developing Malaysia into
a technologically advanced industrialized country, facilitated by fostering high-growth sectors
such as electronics, chemicals, and automotive manufacturing. The emphasis will be on
supply-side development within the electric vehicle (EV) value chain, with a particular focus
on the creation of accessible and cost-effective EV solutions. This is as per outlined in the
NIMP 2030 and NAP 2020, promoting Next Generation Vehicles (NxGV).
‘’This year’s Autoshow features one of the strongest lines ups we have ever gathered, with a
total of more than 200 exhibitors showcasing more than 500 models. There is also a significant
increase in the number of EV models – both passenger cars and 2-wheelers. For MITI, this is
an important milestone, as it is a clear showing of the growing strength of our automotive
sector. Not only are we seeing more efficient, safer, and more comfortable cars, but it also
demonstrates the increasing demand within the domestic market’’ said the Minister.
YB Tengku Zafrul further explained “MAS 2024 is strategically designed to emphasize the
importance of sustainable practices within the automotive sector. By featuring eco-friendly and
energy-efficient vehicles, we aim to not only promote a green future for the industry but also
inspire a collective shift towards responsible and sustainable practices, both at the industry
and consumer levels”.
One of the key highlights of this year’s Autoshow is the showcase of key technologies that
have emerged in line with the policy objectives. This includes the introduction of more
affordable electric vehicles in the market, catering to both cars and motorcycles. The policy
decisions made by the government have increased awareness and adoption of sustainable mobility solutions, culminating in the Malaysia Autoshow as a platform to showcase these
advancements to the public.
Reflecting the growing trend towards sustainable transportation, the EV Pavilion will feature
prominently at the Autoshow. MARii will offer direct approval for RM2,400 rebates under Skim
Galakan Penggunaan Motosikal Elektrik (MARiiCas), simplifying the process for buyers.
Participating banks will also provide the lowest interest rates, making the transition to electric
vehicles more accessible and affordable.
‘’MARii’s focus lies in promoting technology adoption, capacity building, encouraging greater
competitiveness, and ensuring the sustainability of the industry for future generations. The
Autoshow is the perfect platform to share this vision, allowing the public to learn about the
latest automotive technologies and trends. You will have the full experience: see the cars,
trade in your vehicle, apply for financing, and drive your new car home’’, said MARii CEO,
Azrul Reza Aziz.
