BORN TO PLAY, BUILT CLOSER TO HOME: iCAUR 03 ENTERS LOCAL ASSEMBLY IN MALAYSIA

KUALA LUMPUR – iCAUR Malaysia has taken another step in strengthening its presence in the country’s growing New Energy Vehicle (NEV) landscape with the commencement of local assembly for the iCAUR 03, marking a significant milestone for the brand’s expansion plans.

Following the successful introduction of the Completely Built-Up (CBU) iCAUR 03 in September 2025, the electric SUV has steadily gained traction among Malaysian buyers seeking an EV with a more distinctive personality. Unlike many conventional offerings in the market, the iCAUR 03 has established itself with its signature Boxy Retro Classic styling, rugged SUV-inspired stance and intelligent electric performance package.

The move into Completely Knocked Down (CKD) production represents more than just an increase in production capacity. It reflects iCAUR Malaysia’s broader commitment to strengthening its local presence while responding to growing demand from Malaysian consumers.

According to Francis Chin, Senior Director of iCAUR Malaysia, the iCAUR 03 has resonated strongly with local drivers because it offers something different within the EV segment.

“The iCAUR 03 has connected strongly with Malaysian drivers because it brings something different to the electric vehicle space. It is expressive, capable and unmistakably iCAUR,” he said.

He added that transitioning to local assembly combines local pride with global technology while retaining the same experience customers have come to expect from the model.

“These locally assembled units retain 100 per cent of the high-standard specifications, engineering standards and Born To Play character that customers experienced with the CBU model,” he said.

The growing popularity of the model is already evident in the market. In April 2026 alone, iCAUR recorded 547 registered units across its line-up, signalling increasing interest among Malaysian consumers looking for EVs that combine distinctive design, intelligent technology and daily practicality.

Production of the locally assembled iCAUR 03 began in the second quarter of 2026 at the Chery Corporate Malaysia plant in Shah Alam. Leveraging the facility’s established manufacturing capabilities, the initiative also reinforces the company’s contribution to Malaysia’s expanding automotive ecosystem.

The first batch of CKD units is expected to reach iCAUR dealerships nationwide by the end of May 2026.

The locally assembled iCAUR 03 will initially be offered in its Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iWD) variant, carrying over the specifications introduced during its launch.

Powering the iCAUR 03 iWD is a dual-motor setup producing 205kW (279PS) and 385Nm of torque, paired with a 69.8kWh battery pack delivering a New European Driving Cycle (NEDC)-rated range of up to 418km.

Charging capabilities include support for 80kW DC fast charging and 6.6kW AC charging, while a 3.2kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function enables owners to power external electronic devices and appliances directly from the vehicle.

Remaining true to the model’s identity, the iCAUR 03 continues to feature the brand’s i-BOX design philosophy, characterised by a bold boxy silhouette, angular body surfaces, dynamic LED lighting and a strong SUV presence.

Alongside its distinctive styling, the EV retains its suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, intelligent digital cockpit features, battery safety systems and adventure-oriented proportions designed to support both urban commuting and weekend escapes.

The locally assembled iCAUR 03 iWD is priced from RM129,880 (on-the-road without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia). Buyers will also receive a package that includes a 7kW AC home charger and complimentary scheduled servicing for two years or 45,000km, whichever comes first.

Daniel Lai, Marketing Director of iCAUR Malaysia, said the iCAUR 03 is only the beginning of the brand’s ambitions in Malaysia.

“Our focus is to continue introducing NEVs that are stylish, intelligent and full of character — vehicles that reflect the way people live, move and express themselves today,” he said.

As iCAUR Malaysia expands its local footprint, the brand remains focused on introducing a wider range of stylish and sustainable NEVs that combine distinctive design, intelligent technology and the spirit of “Born To Play” for Malaysian consumers.
