MTCC 2026 Title Decider: Season Finale Set to Crown Champions at Sepang

Sepang – The Malaysia Touring Car Championship (MTCC) heads into its decisive final round this weekend, with championship titles across five categories set to be settled at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from 21 to 23 August.

After three closely fought rounds, the MTCC 2026 season finale promises a weekend of high-stakes touring car action as drivers battle for the final points in the Touring Production (TP), Touring Production 2 (TP2), M-Touring Car (MTC), M-Touring 2-V (MT2-V) and M-Touring 2-G (MT2-G) categories.

TP Battle: Khoo Holds the Advantage

The Touring Production (TP) championship enters the final round with Leon Khoo Beng Koon sitting at the top of the standings with 105 points.

Khoo enjoys a 22-point advantage over Jonathan Xie, leaving Xie with a significant challenge if he is to overturn the deficit and snatch the championship in the season finale.

In TP2, Chiow Teck Song currently leads the standings on 98 points, putting him in a strong position heading into the final weekend.

However, the remaining categories promise considerably tighter championship battles.

The MTC title fight is separated by just 10 points, while the MT2-V championship gap stands at eight points.

The closest battle of all comes in MT2-G, where just two points separate championship leaders Soon Chew Poh and Aun Yue Wei from Ng Chong Chin and Freddy Ang.

With such narrow margins, every qualifying position, overtaking move and race result could prove decisive.

“The final round is always special because this is where the hard work of an entire season comes down to one final opportunity. Several championships remain wide open, and we expect every lap, every position and every decision to count,” said Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Chief Executive Officer of SIC.

“For the fans, this is the weekend to be at Sepang, because when the chequered flag falls, we will know who will be crowned MTCC 2026 champions.”

More Than Just MTCC

The championship showdown will be supported by a strong line-up of races, including the Asia Classic Car Challenge, The Super Series and Porsche ARbox Carrera Cup Asia, adding further international and regional racing action to the weekend.

Beyond the track, SIC is also preparing a major celebration of automotive culture, with the Honda Mega Meet expected to attract approximately 10,000 visitors throughout the weekend.

The gathering will feature Honda vehicles and aftermarket showcases, fan activities, a pit-lane and grid walk, as well as a Sunday Lap Parade.

The Race2Learn@SIC programme will also give up to 160 students the opportunity to experience motorsport from behind the scenes through activities including a museum visit, pit-lane walk, Circuit Safari and grid walk.

For gaming and motorsport fans, the SIC Virtual Hot Laps Challenge returns in GT7 time-attack format, while the popular Taxi Ride passenger-lap experience gives visitors the chance to experience the Sepang circuit from the passenger seat.

Free Main Grandstand Admission

Fans can follow the championship decider from the Main Grandstand with free admission throughout the weekend.

For those looking for a closer experience, Paddock Access starts from RM100, while Paddock Hospitality packages are available from RM378.

TV Sarawak will continue as MTCC’s free-to-air broadcast partner, helping bring the season finale to audiences across Malaysia.

With five championship battles still to be decided, a packed support-race programme and thousands of automotive enthusiasts expected at Sepang, the MTCC 2026 finale has all the ingredients for a dramatic end to the season.

The chequered flag will not simply end the weekend — it will crown the 2026 champions.
