SEPANG – The 2026 Malaysia Touring Car Championship (MTCC) came to a dramatic conclusion at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit over the weekend of 22–23 August, with championship titles decided across five categories following two days of intense touring car action.
With temperatures climbing to around 33°C–35°C and extreme UV levels adding another challenge for drivers, teams and machinery, the MTCC season finale delivered a fitting conclusion to a closely contested 2026 campaign.
From the outright Touring Production (TP) battle to the highly competitive MTC and MT2 classes, drivers had little room for error as they fought through the final races of the season.
Aaron Lim and Avila Bahar seal MTC crown for Honda Malaysia Racing Team
The MTC Category championship went to Aaron Lim and Avila Bahar, who finished the season on 103 points aboard the No. 27 Honda FE for the Honda Malaysia Racing Team.
Their championship victory was backed by a strong finale performance, with the No. 27 Honda taking second place in Race 1 before going one better in Race 2, finishing behind team-mates Lai Wei Seng and Farriz Fauzi.
Lai Wei Seng and Farriz Fauzi secured second overall in the championship with 88 points, while Ken Wu and Russell Tam completed the championship podium with 83 points in their No. 208 Suzuki Swift.
The Honda Malaysia Racing Team also enjoyed a dominant weekend, with its two Honda FEs finishing first and second in the final MTC race.
Leon Khoo completes dominant TP campaign
In the TP Category, Leon Khoo Beng Koon capped his season with a clean sweep at the finale, winning both races in the No. 39 Honda Civic FL5 for R Engineering.
Khoo finished the championship on 141 points, a sizeable margin over Jonathan Xie, who took second overall with 110 points in the No. 17 Volkswagen GTI.
Arif Hanafiah completed the championship top three with 91 points, driving the No. 8 Mercedes A45 for Papaya Pay Racing.
The finale itself mirrored the championship standings, with Khoo winning both races ahead of Xie and Hanafiah.
Chiow Teck Song takes TP2 championship
The TP2 title went to Chiow Teck Song, who accumulated 128 points during the season.
Driving the No. 11 Toyota GR86 for R Engineering, Chiow finished second in both races at the finale. However, his consistent season-long performance was enough to secure the championship ahead of Ken Urata and Lim Junji/Lim Yuhan.
Urata finished second overall with 81 points, while the No. 888 pairing of Lim Junji and Lim Yuhan ended the season third on 67 points.
The TP2 finale saw Urata claim Race 2 honours after finishing third in Race 1, while Chiow remained a consistent presence on the podium.
Ady Rahimy Rashid and James Russell secure MT2 G championship
The MT2 G championship was claimed by Ady Rahimy Rashid and James Russell, who ended the campaign with 95 points for Modern Racing Team.
The No. 268 Honda GK pairing finished third in Race 1 and Race 2 at the finale, but their points haul across the season was enough to secure the category title.
Soon Chew Poh and Aun Yue Wei finished second overall with 87 points, while Ng Chong Chin and Freddie Ang Ding Yu took third with 86 points.
Race 2 honours went to Mark Darwin and Luke Anton Netto in the No. 25 Honda GK, while Ling Guang You and Lew Karwai and Ady Rahimy Rashid and James Russell completed the podium.
Diivvyesh Perajun and Harkiesh Geeva take MT2 V crown
The MT2 V championship went down to the wire, with Diivvyesh Perajun and Harkiesh Geeva emerging as champions on 103 points for DV Motorsport.
The No. 19 Suzuki Swift pairing finished fourth in Race 1 before responding with a victory in Race 2, securing a strong finish to their championship campaign.
Mark Chew Shin Yong and Kenny Chan Wai Ying finished second in the championship with 98 points, while Lee Chee Wah and Lester Lian Jia Wei ended the season third with 68 points.
Chew and Chan won Race 1, while Diivvyesh and Harkiesh took the honours in Race 2.
Genevieve Henrietta wins Ladies Cup
Adding another highlight to the finale, Genevieve Henrietta of AXLE Sports was crowned the MTCC 2026 Ladies Cup winner.
The achievement adds another milestone to a championship finale that produced plenty of competitive racing across all categories.
