Sepang – Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has moved into the final phase of preparations for the 2026 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, with FIA technical inspectors reporting no major issues during a comprehensive circuit assessment.
Youth and Sports Minister Mohammed Taufiq Johari confirmed that only minor upgrades and finishing touches remain before the circuit closes from September 7 for final race preparations, technical testing and event setup.
The Cabinet has also approved the memorandum for hosting the Bahrain Grand Prix, while a government steering committee led by the Chief Secretary to the Government will oversee security, logistics and protocol. A dedicated technical committee under the Ministry of Youth and Sports will monitor preparations together with SIC.
On the fan engagement front, the government is finalising plans for Madani Civil Tickets, with ticket prices and Malaysian allocation quotas still under discussion with Bahrain.
Among the proposals being considered:

????️ Special MyKad ticket allocation
???? Recruitment of over 1,000 volunteers, mainly youths and university students, complete with allowances to cover transport and meals.
With preparations entering the home stretch, anticipation continues to build as Formula 1 returns to Sepang this October.
