MalaysianGP 2025: Calls for Fans to Rally Behind Local Hero Hakim Danish as Preparations Hit Full Gear

Sepang – With just over a week to go before the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia 2025 roars into action at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (PSIC), organisers and sponsors are urging Malaysian fans to show their support for the country’s Moto3 Wildcard rider, Hakim Danish.

Speaking at a media session earlier today, event officials said the local crowd’s presence will make a huge difference.

“It’s not often that we get to see a Malaysian riding on the world stage,” said Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh “We really hope that fans will buy their tickets and come out to support Hakim Danish.”

Preparations Nearing Completion

According to SIC, preparations for the premier motorcycle racing event are “well on track”.

“Preparations started about two months ago. Ticket sales have been moving very fast and the response is very encouraging,” said Azhan Shafriman Hanif, CEO of Sepang International Circuit.. “For the latest updates, fans can follow us on our social media.”

Aeon Credit Steps into Motorsports

The event also marks Aeon Credit’s first major foray into motorsports sponsorship.
When asked why the company chose MotoGP, Mr. Ng Eng Kiat from Aeon Credit said it was both a strategic and heartfelt move.

“It’s a combination of both — yes, it fits into our CSR and community initiatives, but we also genuinely love motorsports. Sponsorships in racing aren’t easy to come by, and we want to help nurture local talent,” he said.

He added that the partnership with SIC aims to create community impact beyond the racetrack.

“It’s not just about brand visibility — it’s also a responsibility we take from the heart,” he said, expressing hope that the collaboration will continue long term.

Hakim Danish Ready for Sepang

Hakim Danish’s ZK Racing principal Zulfahmi Khairuddin shared that preparations for his race are nearly complete.

“We’ve been testing and tuning the latest-spec bike — the same machine he’ll use in the World Championship,” said a team representative. “Hakim has great potential and really loves the Sepang track layout. We’re confident he’ll show his full potential and be competitive.”

Government Support for Motorsport Development

Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh reaffirmed the government’s continued support for motorsport talent development.

“Motorsport involves large funding, and young talents cannot reach the podium without support,” she said. “Through the Kumpulan Wang Amanah Sukan, we’ve opened channels for private sector contributions that qualify for full tax exemptions.”

She revealed that KBS has allocated RM2.1 million this year for Hakim Danish’s preparation for the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the JuniorGP World Championship, with total motorsport development funds exceeding RM4 million.

“This is not a waste of money — we have talent, and that talent is already producing podium results,” YB Hannah stressed. “When Malaysians buy tickets and cheer for Hakim Danish, that’s also a form of support.”

High Hopes for a Strong Home Crowd

Officials also noted that general admission tickets for the MalaysianGP remain among the most affordable in the world, urging fans to secure theirs quickly.

“Ticket sales are trending high, especially after it was announced that Hakim Danish will race,” an SIC spokesperson said. “We hope fans will come out in full force — this is your chance to cheer for a Malaysian hero on home soil.”
