Penang Autoshow 2026 Makes Historic Northern Debut, Bringing the Future of Mobility to the People

GEORGE TOWN, PENANG – The Malaysia Autoshow enters a bold new phase with the launch of its first-ever regional edition at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC), marking a historic expansion into the Northern Corridor.

This inaugural Penang Autoshow 2026 signals a strategic shift—bringing Malaysia’s premier automotive showcase closer to communities outside the Klang Valley, while reinforcing a national push toward accessible and sustainable mobility.

Organised by Moonman Events and endorsed by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the regional edition is designed to bridge the gap between advanced automotive technologies and northern Malaysia’s growing base of enthusiasts and industry stakeholders.

A Strategic Northern Expansion

The choice of Penang as host is both deliberate and symbolic.

Widely recognised as one of Malaysia’s industrial powerhouses, Penang plays a critical role in the semiconductor, electronics, and precision engineering sectors—industries now deeply intertwined with the future of mobility. From EV components to connected vehicle ecosystems, the state provides a fitting stage for the industry’s next evolution.

“Today marks an important step in the evolution of the Malaysia Autoshow as we bring the experience to Pulau Pinang,” said Azrul Reza Aziz. “This regional edition allows us to expand our reach while continuing to strengthen public engagement in the absence of the main show this year.”

More Than an Autoshow—An Immersive Experience

Far from a static display, the Penang Autoshow 2026 delivers a fully interactive automotive experience.

Visitors can explore over 50 exhibitors, with a strong spotlight on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). More than 40 electrified models are on display, including six exclusive previews—underscoring the industry’s rapid pivot toward electrification.

A standout feature remains the dedicated 4.8-kilometre test drive route, giving attendees the rare opportunity to experience vehicle performance, comfort, and handling in real-world conditions—an element that has become synonymous with the Malaysia Autoshow brand.

“This is not just about cars—it is about shaping our place in the next phase of mobility,” said Chow Kon Yeow during the officiating ceremony, highlighting the state’s ambition to remain competitive in the global mobility landscape.

Labour Day Celebration Meets Automotive Culture

On May 1, the autoshow transforms into a high-energy celebration of Malaysia’s workforce in conjunction with Labour Day.

Running from 3:30 PM to 10:30 PM, the “Tribute to the Workforce” programme blends automotive culture with entertainment—featuring live podcast sessions by Tekan Habis, interactive stage games, and headline performances by rock legend Awie alongside Army of Six.

The night will culminate in a visually striking Tesla Light Show, adding a futuristic spectacle to an already dynamic event lineup.

Driving the Future, Nationwide

With its northern debut, the Penang Autoshow 2026 is more than just an extension of a flagship event—it represents a decentralisation of automotive innovation in Malaysia.

By bringing cutting-edge mobility solutions directly to regional audiences, the autoshow reinforces a clear message: the future of transportation isn’t confined to major urban centres—it’s for everyone.
