SEPANG, Malaysia – Round 3 of the 2026 MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship produced one of the most dramatic weekends of the season as victories were decided by mechanical resilience, strategic riding and breathtaking photo finishes across every category at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.
The headline story belonged to Adam Norrodin (AMI Suzuki Motorsport), who bounced back from the heartbreak of a mechanical failure in Race 1 to secure his long-awaited first MSBK1000 A victory of the season in Race 2.
After retiring from podium contention in Saturday’s race due to technical issues, Adam returned determined on Sunday, engaging in a thrilling duel with Indonesia’s Mohammad Adenanta Putra before making the decisive pass on Lap 8. He held off relentless pressure to win by just 0.598 seconds, marking an emotional turnaround for both rider and team.
Race 1 had earlier gone to Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin, who survived tyre concerns after capitalising on misfortune for both Adam and Adenanta. Despite nursing deteriorating tyres over the closing laps, the Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia rider kept his composure to claim victory.
Meanwhile, the MSBK1000 B class showcased consistency over outright speed. Santhiran A/L Naga Raju claimed his fifth consecutive Race 1 victory before securing third in Race 2—enough to be crowned Weekend Champion despite Muhammad Idham Fathris Mazlan winning Sunday’s race. Smart championship management proved just as valuable as outright pace.
In MSBK600, Muhd Helmi Azman completed a flawless weekend with victories in both races after overcoming repeated challenges from Khairul Idham Pawi. The double win provides a major confidence boost ahead of his upcoming ARRC campaign in Mandalika.
The MSBK250 A category delivered arguably the closest finish of the weekend.
After Danial Syahmi Ahmad Shahril celebrated his maiden victory in Race 1, Race 2 produced an unforgettable photo finish when Muhd Irfan Haykhal Amidi defeated Danial by just 0.001 seconds following an extraordinary last-lap battle. The result instantly became one of the championship’s defining moments.
The MSBK250 B category belonged to veteran Ahmad Fazli Sham Ahmad Walat, who swept both races to emerge as Weekend Champion. His Race 1 triumph was particularly memorable after recovering from a late crash caused by oil on the circuit, while Race 2 saw him dominate from lights to flag despite pressure from Kabilesh Rajini Krishnan and Ng Wei Shyang.
The BERJAYA SOMPO Yamaha R15M Race Elites continued to showcase some of the closest racing in Malaysian motorsport. Race 1 saw Ashraff Zaquan Zainal Raif secure a hat-trick of victories by just 0.001 seconds, while Race 2 produced another spectacular slipstream battle before Muhd Ikram Dani emerged victorious in yet another nail-biting finish.
With only one round remaining and double championship points still available, Round 3 has tightened several title battles while demonstrating the increasingly competitive standard of Malaysian motorcycle racing. From comeback victories and championship strategy to finishes measured in thousandths of a second, Sepang once again delivered a weekend worthy of its reputation as one of Asia’s premier racing venues.
