For the many who knows me, they will know pork is probably my favorite protein out there and when a friend recommended this Italian restaurant close to my neighborhood that has an excellent Berkshire Pork Menu, I know I had to go and try it out.
Berkshire Pork is pork from black pigs, one of the finest species of pig available to man. It is fed with a well balanced and nutritious diet with no antibiotics, growth hormones and muscle drugs. These Berkshire Pork usually have a higher degree of tenderness with its higher percentage of intramuscular fat and juicier as it has a lower drip loss.
Passione Ristorante Italiano is located in Sri Petaling with easy parking as there is quite a huge open-air parking lot opposite McDonald’s. The restaurant is about 50 meters away from the parking lot and is a nice two-storey outlet. On the ground floor is their well-stocked bar with their wood-fire pizza oven while on the upper floor is their main kitchen.
With an extensive menu, featuring my favorite Berkshire Pork, we hit the ground running. Our soup for the day was their signature Concentrated Pork Soup with Rolled Cabbage Dumplings. My colleagues pick this selection as if you know me well, vegetables and me don’t get along very well but I tried this and the gelatinous pork bone soup is cooked very well to bring out the natural sweetness of the pork.
From the soup, we headed to the mains. We had quite a few items, and its hard to say which is my favorite, the Stone Grill Berkshire Pork Chop which is marinated with Sriracha and Miso is probably slightly ahead of the pack. The pork chop is so tender and flavorful. The Miso paste gives the pork that slight tangy and salty taste with some sweetness while the Sriracha adds on that little oomph to the pork but nothing overwhelming.
My second favorite main is definitely the Berkshire Baby Back Ribs Glazed in Herb and Spiced Butter. If you like ribs, this is definitely the item to order. The ribs were indeed so tender that the meat practically falls off the bones and the marination of herbs and spiced butter truly did wonders for the flavoring of this dish.
The third main we had was the Braised Berkshire Pork Belly. This slow roasted pork belly, some what similar to the Chinese Tong Po Roh practically melts in your mouth with the red wine and veal stock giving it that nice sweet savory flavor.
An Italian meal will not be complete without trying out their pizzas and pastas, so for pizza, we had the Pizza Berkshire & Crema Di Tartufo while for pasta, we had the Seafood Linguine.
The wood-fire Pizza Berkshire & Crema Di Tartufo has a nice hand-tossed crust and loaded with roasted Berkshire Pork, grilled zucchini, truffle paste and smothered with smoked cheese and mozzarella. Very nice indeed, the dough is cooked thru and taste wonderful with the nice savory roasted pork under that gooey creamy melted cheese. A definite must try for pizza lovers.
The only non-Berkshire Pork menu that we ordered was the Seafood Linguine. The homemade pasta was cooked al dente and smothered in smooth light oil infused with chili and garlic for that amazing taste and loaded with fresh seafood such as clams, shrimps, squids and scallop for a perfect plate of pasta.
This is undoubtedly my favorite Italian restaurant in town and judging from its close proximity to me, I guess its definitely gonna be my “usual Italian place” then.
So if you are a fan of Italian food, and especially one with a nice Berkshire pork menu, you surely need to check out this Passione Ristorante Italiano in Sri Petaling. For every items on the menu we tried, it was amazing and you can feel that each of the items are cooked with passion and love and presently beautifully to your table.
